A bouquet is an easy way to brighten up any space in the home. We’ve all experienced picking out a beautiful bouquet at the store or cutting flowers from the garden to make your own arrangement, only to find it wilted and barely clinging to life after a few days. Discover these eight enduring flowers for a bouquet that never disappoints!
Carnations

There’s nearly always at least one carnation in whatever bouquet you’ve picked up at the grocery store, and it’s usually the last flower standing. If you keep them out of direct sunlight and heat and change the water often, carnations may stay fresh in a vase for up to three weeks. White carnations can also be colored easily by adding 10 to 15 drops of food dye to the vase of water, making them one of the most versatile flowers for arrangement.
Orchids

One of the first examples of flowery perseverance is the orchid, whose gorgeous blooms may endure up to 2.5 weeks. The key is to ensure your vase is clean, cut the flowers, and give them gentle water. Even though they are hardy, orchids have sensitive buds; do not handle or mist them.
Chrysanthemums

These are the easiest flower types to grow and are summertime favorites. These abundant flowers, which have a month or so to live, are wonderful for long-term enjoyment. Chrysanthemums thrive off of fresh water, so the vase of water needs to be refilled and cleaned daily for longer-lasting vibrant blooms.
Alliums

Although alliums aren’t as common as some other cut flowers, they make a beautiful arrangement. They grow tall (some types reach up to 4 feet), making them easy to trim to any desired height. Their long, rigid stems prevent them from toppling over in a vase.
If you periodically replace the water in a vase, most can survive up to two weeks. If you keep these blooms in the same water for too long, you may discover that they smell a bit like scallions, which is why alliums are often referred to as decorative onions.
Lilies

Cut lilies require very little care. Their excellent brilliance lasts longer when they spend less time without water. Select a container that allows the stems to stand freely because they are delicate plants that should never be crushed or distorted. These species love chilly climates and areas with little to no sun exposure. Lastly, lilies should be kept from other flowers since the latter emit compounds that hasten the withering process.
Ranunculus

Ranunculus are a super underrated flower to display in bouquets. We enjoy them since they have a lush, luxurious appearance and are available in so many colors. If given the proper treatment, ranunculus may survive up to two weeks. When you bring your ranunculus home, remove the covering to let the flowers open up.
Dahlias

Because of their complete uniqueness, dahlias have some of the most amazing blooms in the entire flower kingdom. Although they are available in an enormous range of sizes and hues, they can always be recognized by their characteristic spiky petals and vibrant color. Dahlias can have a two- to three-day vase life if they are placed in hot water and then cooled to room temperature. Prevent wilting by keeping these blooms out of direct sunlight.
Gerbera Daisies

They’re large, brilliant, stylish, and unique! When given the perfect care, gerbera daisies can last up to two weeks or longer, making for a vibrant, vivid addition to any bouquet. To prevent weak stems, keep your gerberas in shallow water (about an inch would do). Put your gerberas in bright, indirect sunlight during the day, but stay away from places that will get very hot or cold, such as next to drafty windows or air conditioning/heating vents.
